Catechists - SRE Teachers

Catechists are the unsung heroes of the church. They, more than any other group, reach out and take the good news to the poor.

Each week a team of volunteers teaches religious education to the children attending the state primary schools in our parish. New volunteers are always welcome and needed. Some classes do not receive lessons if we have an insufficient number of teachers. Maybe you can be a catechist for one year, or longer. You may like to be a helper first, to gain confidence. Men and women, young, old, or in-between – everyone is welcome! Catechists are given appropriate training.

The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine periodically runs courses and help is always available from within the parish if needed. We use easy-to-follow programs. No formal qualification is required, just a willingness to be committed each week and a desire to share your faith and love of God with the children. Contact Sue Clark.
