Serving the Elderly

Ladies from our parish regularly visit Kennet Home at Stanwell Park. They take Holy Communion to those not able to attend Mass and spend time praying or sometimes just talking with the residents. It’s very important that the residents know they are still part of the church and that we care for them.

They also help arrange activities and offer a pampering service. Kennet is an excellent home that provides a good level of care to the residents but it adds a nice touch when someone from the wider community visits and provides a friendly service. Pampering is that special little touch our ladies provide to make the residents feel good about themselves. It’s a simple thing, just soaking their fingers, doing their nails and rubbing lotion into their hands. It doesn’t sound much but it makes the residents feel cared for and loved – something they look forward to.

In the picture above, Cora, Jackie and Fran share in a 100th Birthday Party for one of the residents.
